Social media was loud with noise from thrilled Kenyans who were full of zeal after seeing photos of an ultra-modern high speed train being imported into the country.Since independence, Kenyans have never seen a modern train. Railway tracks are still dominated by aged smoke emitting locomotives colonialists brought along in their quest to conquer the region.
Now thanks to government initiative of constructing a standard gauge railway, the country will be boasting of having trains that can actually travel faster than ugly German-made beetle Volkswagen.
With the construction of the standard gauge tracks in progress, the government has also imported new ultra-modern train to be used.
The sight of the new train left Kenyans fired up with wild excitement filling social media with congratulatory messages to the government for a job well done.
Oops! Wait a minute, the train actually doesn’t belong to Kenya. Someone duped Kenyans and some blogs even fell for it.
The photos showing the train being offloaded from a ship were taken from somewhere in a Moroccan port.
The high speed train is first of its kind in Africa, poor Kenyans thought we could finally have the edge over South Africans.
